The ATR 42-600, Certified by EASA - Thursday, June 28th, 2012

ATR, manufacturer of turboprop aircraft, is pleased to announce that the ATR 42-600, new member of its family of airplanes, has just obtained certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

This certification, prior to the aircraft’s entry into service and for the plane’s new equipment, marks the end of a series of ground and in-flight tests which were performed on the ATR 42-600 prototype. It demonstrates ATR’s willingness to continue investing in the 50-seater aircraft segment, a niche market for which it is the lone manufacturer.

New Composite Training Course from LRTT - Thursday, June 28th, 2012

LRTT are building on their established Advanced Composite course with the addition of a new 5-day Level 1 Composite Course this October.

This 5-day course is balanced with theoretical and practical elements and will cover such topics as:

  • fabrication methods
  • vacuum bagging and
  • wet lay-up repair

LTT Offers New Training for Development and Manufacturing Enterprises - Monday, June 25th, 2012

LTT has, for example, new training in the following courses:

  • Aviation Regulations for Material Supply
  • Aircraft Component and Material Certificates
  • EN9100 Supply Chain Management
  • Aviation Industry Supplier Basic Know-how
  • Design and Certification Basic Know-how

The target group for these courses is professionals and executives working in development and manufacturing enterprises. For this target group LTT also offers web-based training for “International Aviation Legislation – Basic”, with a relationship to an introduction to aviation law.

New Approval for MNG Technic - Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Ahmet Çakiroglu, the Training Director at MNG Technic Aircraft Maintenance Services, Turkey told the EAMTC, “MNG Technic believes in continuous development and we keep on expanding our capability. With the EASA information letter of January 05, 2012, underlining that this year will be an important “transition year” for Part 147 Training, we’re very excited.”

Ahmet continued, “Some of the main changes introduced by the recent Regulation EU 1149/2011 in Parts 66 & 147 are related to OJT and Practical Training and we at MNG Technic are proud to announce that we now have EASA Practical Training approval. We believe this to be a ‘first’ in Turkey.”

The First Anniversary of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Commercial Operations in Aeroflot - Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

June 20, 2012, Moscow – A year ago, on June 16, 2011 Aeroflot – Russian Airlines put its first Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft MSN 95008 into commercial operations.

By June 15, 2012 eight of Aeroflot’s SSJ100s had accumulated 6,865 flight hours in 3,710 revenue flights and carried more than 220,000 passengers. Aeroflot’s SSJ100s currently operate scheduled flights from Moscow to 27 Russian destinations.

Appointment at Cathay Pacific Airways - Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Nick Shaw

After a total of 39 years in the airline industry, nearly 22 of which were with Hong Kong based carrier, Cathay Pacific Airways, Nick Shaw has retired from his post as Cathay’s Technical Training Manager.

“I’ve had a wonderful career. EAMTC meetings were a real highlight and are a must for anyone in maintenance training. Now, it’s time to try something different,” Nick said. “I will take a short holiday before returning to Australia to take up new challenges.”

Nigel Slattery, appointed as Technical Training Manager at Cathay

Nigel Slattery has been appointed to replace Nick with effect from 6th June. Nigel has served as Assistant Manager for the last 10 years and will be a new face to the EAMTC.
