February 3, 2012, Moscow – The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued today its Type Certificate A-176 for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (model RRJ-95B). This certificate recognizes that the SSJ100 aircraft demonstrated compliance with the EASA airworthiness and environmental requirements. The recognition allows the European airlines, as well as those airlines operating in countries which use EASA regulations as a reference standard, to accept and operate the SSJ100 (RRJ-95B) aircraft. This result represents a key milestone in support of the brand credibility of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 which is the first ever Russian passenger “Large Airplane” to achieve the EASA CS-25 Certification.

On 15th December 2011 Resource Group Ltd and Lufthansa Technical Training GmbH reached an agreement that as of close of business on 31st December 2011 Resource Group would acquire all the share capital in their Joint Venture Company, Lufthansa Resource Technical Training Ltd (LRTT) and take full control of the business.

From 1st January 2012 Lufthansa Resource Technical Training Ltd is known as LRTT Ltd.

Resource Group and Lufthansa Technical Training set up LRTT as a joint venture in 2003. Since this time LRTT has established itself as a quality provider of EASA Part 147 approved fundamentals training. A UK CAA approved company, LRTT provides EASA Part 66 Category A1, A3, B1.1, B1.3 and B2 courses to aircraft engineers and is based at the Cotswold Airport in the UK at a purpose built training facility which includes a maintenance hangar.

LRTT is a strategic investment for Resource Group and will join its Air Traffic Control, Electronic Warfare and UAS training businesses in delivering quality training to the aviation and aerospace markets.

John Larkin, Managing Director at Resource Group comments “We plan further investment in LRTT during 2012 which will lead us to increase the scope of LRTT services supplied and the geographic markets served. We will be working closely with the staff at LRTT to integrate the training school into our group of companies during 2012.”

Ian Fitzpatrick, LRTT Managing Director adds “LRTT has firmly established it’s brand and reputation in the civil and military aviation training sectors and the ability to train engineers for helicopters as well as fixed wing aircraft further diversifies the LRTT portfolio. This exciting development represents an excellent opportunity to grow the service offering and the business both locally and Internationally. Indeed we have already commenced expansion of basic training delivery in collaboration with The European Pilot Academy in Malta and launched EWIS training on line. The plan will also be to expand the LRTT product range considerably.

A major component of this product range expansion is the intention to gain UK CAA type training approval, beginning with the A320, by the end of Q2 this year. A key element of this provision will be the guaranteed, on aircraft practical training through collaboration with our local partner on a live, but not in use, A320 aircraft. This removes what is often the major stumbling block for individuals looking to add type ratings to their basic license and we intend to develop this concept for several additional aircraft types in the near future.

We look forward to taking up our place as a member in our own right and to playing an active role in the EAMTC, an organisation we believe to be indispensable for our industry!

Helicopter training courses as web-based training

Interactive learning program based on EASA requirements CAT B1.3 module 12

Hamburg 1 February 2012:

Lufthansa Technical Training’s new, web-based training program (WBT) for helicopter training is now available. The English-language program is based on the latest technological standards and follows successful learning approaches. Divided into 16 units, all the helicopter basics are imparted lucidly over approximately 55 hours.

The WBT satisfies the requirements of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regarding personnel authorized to issue certifications for maintenance work on helicopters. The learning content of the program complies with EASA category CAT B1.3 (module 12).

Holger Beck, Chief Commercial Officer at Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT):

“With this new innovative step in the direction of time- and resource-saving training concepts that offers our customers the possibility of qualifying their staff as required and free from a fixed working time frame, Lufthansa Technical Training is further expanding its e-learning training offerings into the helicopter market.”

It has taken 18 months to develop this WBT. After putting together the training content and embedding it in a methodical didactic concept, the software solution was implemented in collaboration with an external media expert. Moreover, the content can be broken down at CAT A3 level.

Thomas Breuer, trainer and co-developer of WBT helicopter training at LTT:

“The unusual feature of this WBT program is the fact that we have animated a number of system diagrams. These system animations are designed interactively and participants can test out the theoretical knowledge they have acquired directly in the simulation. Linked video sequences introduce participants virtually into the basics of helicopter technology and maintenance. The setting is highly entertaining and varied thanks to the use of professional speakers. As a result the training content can be quickly picked up, so that positive learning experiences and successes can be gained in next to no time.”
